Reflection Questions from the blog

Use these prompts to journal or meditate about the blog to take the insight you read deeper!

1. What is your love language? (Examples include words of affirmation, acts of service, physical touch, gifts, quality time, memes, etc.). Ask God to reveal His love for you in this language, and pay attention to how He shows up!

2. 1 Kings 19:11 states that Elijah was told to go and stand on the mountain before the Lord, and that the Lord would pass by. You may not have to climb a literal mountain, but how can you place yourself in a disposition of waiting expectantly before the Lord?

3. 1 Kings 19:11-12 says the Lord was not in the violent wind, the earthquake, or the fire that showed up, but in a much quieter sound.

3a. Are there certain ways that you expect God to show up, and in fixating solely on these, you may end up missing the various other ways that He might be present in your life? Ask God for openness to surprises, see how freeing it is to let go of preconceived notions, and allow yourself to go on a playful and thrilling adventure with God!

3b. Are there times when you're feeling bored or uncomfortable and are tempted to fill your time with some noise or activity? Set a timer for at least 5 minutes and sit in silence instead. Pay attention to what fruit comes from this.

4. What's your favorite Bible verse or passage? God's words are not only deep but alive - new meanings can be revealed every time we look at them, especially if we take more time than we normally would think to. I invite you to take another look at your favorite verse or passage, sit with it and meditate upon it for a full 15 minutes, and observe what emerges.

5. What are some things that you naturally do when you truly love someone? Note that there are many types of love (familial, friendship, romantic, etc.), so don't limit yourself here! Try some of these things with God and see what happens!
